FREE WOMMA Teleconference TOMORROW: WOM ETHICS: A Practical Guild to Doing it Right

As part of their every Wednesday, Learn from Leading Experts Teleconference series, WOM teleconferences, WOMMA is offering a teleconference on word of mouth ethics. This teleconference features Walter Carl of Northeastern University, Andy Sernovitz, CEO of WOMMA and Gary Spangler from Dupont
Walter Carl conducted the research, To Tell or Not to Tell? Assessing the Practical Effects of Disclosure for Word of Mouth Marketing Agents and Their Conversational Partners, which was presented at the Word of Mouth Basic Training Conference in January. This presentation is available for download at the WOMBAT Blog as are most of the conference presentations. I highly recommend taking advantage of this!
Dupont has become the first Fortune 100 company to adopt the Word of Mouth Standards and is requiring all worldwide employees and vendors to adhere to these ethics standards. This is a tremendous first step in the fight against stealth marketers. Gary Spangler’s participation in this teleconference will be especially valuable in this light.
Andy Sernovitz is a frequent presenter and writer.
This is sure to be worthwhile and interesting teleconference. Call ![]()

Johnmoore’s Brand Autopsy:jumboSHRIMP Marketing Video on YouTube
Johnmoore at Brand Autopsy has taken a Power Point presentation and made it into a YouTube Video. It is such a creative way to bring life to a marketing presentation from a content and a media channel perspective; my words do not capture it…check it out at Brand Autopsy or at YouTube!
Also he adds this FYI:
" I’ve setup a Marketing Bloggers group page on YouTube. Consider this a place for marketing bloggers and business clairvoyants to list thought-provoking YouTube videos centered around sharing ideas and ideals. I plan to create more of these video knowledge nuggets and list them on the YouTube Marketing Bloggers group page. You are invited to do the same."
John was also kind enough to provide the seven steps for the video challenged:
BTW … Microsoft Movie Maker is very easy to use. It’s how I’ve done a few audioblogs"
There is an article in USA Today that discusses how marketers are using YouTube and see also Awakened Voice.

Blogs and msm are not an "either or choice" but part of the same spectrum.
Quoting Gladwell "I have come (belatedly) to the conclusion that a blog can be a very valuable supplement to my books and the writing I do for The New Yorker. What I think I’d like to do is to use this forum to elaborate and
comment on and correct and amend things that I have already written." -

Technorati State of the Blogosphere: Depends on How you Define Strong
Dave Sifry released his quarterly State of the Blogosphere data today and declared the blogosphere "strong;" which translates into 34.5 million blogs tracked by Technorati and a blogosphere doubling in size every 6 months. Further, 75,000 new blogs are created daily which he says equates to a new blog being created every second.
He also notes that 55% of those creating blogs are still posting 3 months later. So, where exactly do the 45% show up in the data…or do they? I am not suggesting that the blogosphere is not big…I am just not sure that the reporting is entirely accurate if the 45% continue to appear in the total number. It seems to be similar to the way employment data is reported….when people give up looking for a job they are removed from the unemployment data thus allowing for the conclusion that the economy is getting stronger.
Sifry goes on to say that the rate of posting to blogs, however many blogs there are, is a more robust measure of the growth of the blogosphere. He reports that there are 1.2 million posts per day, or 50,000 posts per hour. Yes, that is indeed a lot of posts. One of the next topics for Sifry to report on is the growth of tags. I am looking forward to that because somewhere in all those posts are my posts and I am still not sure what happens to my tags; sometimes they index and sometimes they don’t.
