Improving Personal Productivity
I was sitting at my computer multi-tasking….with part of my brain I was going through my Blogline feeds and with the other part of my brain I was pondering once again the issue of, what is best summarized as organizing for improving personal productivity. My list of business ideas (or ideas for business), both the ones that actually make it onto a list and the ones that remain inside my head or are formulated in a conversation and then go straight up to forgotten idea heaven….the part of heaven which is adjacent to balloon heaven where I used to tell my kids their cherished but let go of balloons went so they wouldn’t cry….is far longer than my actual businesses, products, or services. As I scanned my feeds I was thinking about everything from ways to tweak/track my project organization structure to the questions of maybe I should hire a virtual assistant or hire a coach. And then, I got to Matt Homan’s blog post called "Printable Partner" referrencing David Seah’s blog post with the "Printable CEO" template….Matt is correct, it is simply brilliant. So thanks Matt and Dave… I’m going to give it a try!
More Useful Info We Learn From Blogs
From BL Ochman’s What’s Next On Line comes a useful directive to ICE Your Cell Phone. ICE stands for In Case Of Emergency. Add an entry, ICE, in your cell phone contacts with the contact info for that person or persons you would like contacted in case of emergency. Emergency personnel look in a person’s cell phones for clues to identity. Adding ICE should speed up the process. Sounds like a useful precaution to take. Easier than getting the address changed on my driver’s license which I keep meaning to do…
Matching Socks
Matt Homann at the non{billable}hour posts a suggestion from Idea a Day about a sock sorter that works like a coin sorter…you feed in socks and the sorter matches them with their pairs. Unfortunately at our house (I have 2 sons) we don’t see many matching pairs of socks much past the time they are taken out of the package. I can’t exactly explain how or why this happens but few pairs of socks make it into the laundry and even few make it out. The ones that don’t make it into the laundry I frequently find under beds, in the back of closets or in bathrooms…the ones that don’t make it out of the laundry I never see again. I think a sock sorter that came with a sock locator might be a big idea for households with boys….Matt, I am sure your adorable daughter will not need the sock locator
